Deaf awareness and curriculum activies with Freddie and the Fairy book

Query: We are a fan on this forum of all of Julia Donaldson's books but for deaf awareness "Freddie and the Fairy" is our favourite. Reply: This posting from the great website Teaching Ideas, gives a whole set of good ideas for how to share this book in various subjects. We particularly like the PSHE ideas for sharing feelings and thinking about what it's like not to hear properly.

Looking for hearing loss simulations

Query: I am writing to ask for your guidance. I am a Teacher of the Deaf in South Wales and our service offer Deaf Awareness Training. One of the resources we found invaluable when offering training, was a disc on filtered speech. However, this disc is no longer working and i wondered if there were any resources you provide that would offer filtered speech? What i am thinking of, is where the listener hears words at 40dB, 60dB and so on.
