Processor keeps falling off
Enquiry: My son has just updgraded from Advanced Bionics body worn to Harmony BTE. We are having real problems keeping the processors on his head, we have tupee tape which is helping a bit. He wears glasses too so these are getting in the way. Any suggestions or advice?
Reply: I am presuming that he is wearing the processor with the ‘off the body’ option for the battery. Just in case here is the link to information about this configuration on Sounding Board. Off the ear options or go to the Harmony page and click to download the information on ‘off the ear’. There is an option of using this with bilateral processors.
There is a new option called a Snuggie which will be available soon. This is simply a piece of tubing which links the earhook and the bendy piece at the bottom of the processor.
Many children use an earmould to help keep the processor in the right place. This in conjunction with toupee tape may hold it securely.
Your son may be rather young to try the bandana look but this can be effective in holding it in place. Similarly a cap can also hold the processor in place providing there is not too much pressure over the site of the implant. Has anybody else got other ideas please?

This might sound odd but I used sticky-backed velcro with one child. You have to check child is not allergic to the glue. Stick a tiny piece of velcro (soft stuff) behind child's ear (this has to be replaced regularly obviously) and put a tiny piece of velcro hook onto processor.
