Low volume on an MP3 player
Enquiry: Hi I have recently had my CI adjusted to the highest volume possible. I have begun using an MP3 player. However, even with the volume full on in the MP3 I am struggling to hear the music. Are there any MP3 players which have louder volume than others or are better for CI users?
Reply: The manufacturers of MP3 players and the like ensure that the volume cannot be turned up too high as this can damage hearing. One way to improve this situation is by using the ‘T’ facility on your cochlear implant processor. You need to get a portable neck loop and here is the link to one supplied by Connevans: Portable neck loop
Basically this is like an inline amplifier. you plug the lead into the headphone socket of your MP3 and use your processor on a programme with a T facility. In this way the sound from the player should be much louder for you. The loop requires a battery in order to work so this will need changing at some stage. Has anyone else tried an alternative way which has been successful?

Hi, how long have you had your implant? I noticed at the beginning the first year after switch on I couldn't hear my music very well and it was too quiet and I was using my implant audio lead. I then bought the T hook lead from Connevans and switch implant to T and that worked! It was much better and I got more volume! But then since I got the lead, the volume was increasing anyway as I was hearing more and more through the implant so the T hooks got better and better. Hope this helps?
